Avis Cottrill

Funeral services for Mrs. Avis Jewel Stevens Cottrill will be held Saturday May 25th at 12pm at Davis Weaver Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Quiet Dale, WV. Stephens Funeral Home in Meridian and Davis Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg, WV have been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Cottrill, 86, of Meridian, passed away Monday, May 13th at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was retired as a bookkeeper and as a salesperson in the retail industry. Mrs. Cottrill was a member of the Eastern Star, Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Family memories will include the love she had for her husband and her children, and the special bond she had with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cottrill exhibited the traits of a strong, independent woman who was always there for her family and friends and had a special love for all children. She was a very loving and giving person and supported her family and friends by offering advice and guidance to them. She was creative and enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, making ceramics and word search puzzles. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children Norman Cottrill (Karen), Ernie Cottrill (Jenny), Peggy Cottrill Wilson (Alan), Christina Cottrill Slayton (Van; grandchildren Casey, Andrew, Sela, Matt, Josh (Stephanie), Nicki (Clay), Kelly (Cory), Lucas, Dalton, Lindsey, Connor (Erin), Emily (Turner).

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Savannah, Thomas, Callie, Jordyn, Charleigh, Wyatt, Jack Ellis, Ezra and son-in-law Howard Alford.

Mrs. Cottrill was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Rissie Stevens; husband Charles E. Cottrill Jr. and daughter Shirley Cottrill Alford.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm at Davis Weaver Funeral Home.
