Belinda Townsend Walker
Services for Belinda Townsend Walker will be held Tuesday 11am at Collinsville United Methodist Church with Rev. Pam Randall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Walker, 62, of Meridian, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a precious daughter, sister and wife. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and coworkers. She gave 33 years to teaching, counseling and evaluating exceptional children both with physical and learning limitation and those exceptional students identified as intellectually gifted. Although she had no children of her own, she loved and cared for children all over this county. She was incredibly smart, never wanting recognition or the spotlight, but always working fearlessly for others.
Belinda retired from the Lauderdale County School System in 2013 as a psychometrist and counselor after 33 years of service. She was a certified counselor. She received her Education Specialist Degree from Mississippi State University in 1985. She received her Master of Education Degree from the University of Mississippi in 1976. Belinda was Outstanding Young Student of America in 1982.
Belinda received her Bachelor of Science Degree cum laude from Mississippi State College for Women in 1973. She graduated from East Ms. Community College in 1971 and West Lauderdale High School in 1969.
She leaves behind her husband, John Walker her father and mother, Everett and Jane Townsend her brother, Lee Townsend brother in law, Walter Edward Walker aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be James D. Martindale, Jr., Lauren Dale Bounds, Jr., Lowry Townsend, Bobby Brown, Robert Wideman, and Harold DuBose.
The family would like to thank and express great appreciation to Anderson Regional Hospital Personnel for their love and care, especially the 4th Floor East Nurses, Dr. John Halbrook, Dr. John Clay, and Dr. Kent Darsey.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Lauderdale County Humane Society.
