Betsy Weems

Graveside services for Betsy B. Weems will be held today at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Weems, 88, of Meridian, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Beverly Health Care Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Meridian. She was a member of the Arts Council, Meridian Symphony, Merrihope Restoration, Meals on Wheels, and served extensively in community services in many areas.

Survivors include her step-sister, Betty Jean Christman of Gainesville, Fla.; a step-daughter, Margaret B. Peggy Weems of Charlotte, Va.; a nephew, Richard Armstrong and his wife, Charlotte, of Meridian and a niece Ann Langford Frame and her husband, John, of Brentwood, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.G. Aggie Weems; her father, Len Burrell; her mother, Betsy Roach Burrell; her step-mother, Dorothy Roach Burrell; a brother, Bud Burrell and a step-sister, Dorothy Jane Adams Lindsay. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
