A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Billy Jean Parten Wednesday, November 7th, 11:00 am at James F. Webb Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Smith and Bro. Damon Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Coatopa, AL.
Mrs. Parten, 80, of Meridian, passed away Saturday at Anderson Regional Medical.
Billie Jean enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with her family, and attending Anchor Church of God of Prophecy. She was known to be a devoted wife and a kind, loving mother and grandmother.
Her survivors include children, Jane McMurry (Tom) of Tupelo, MS, David Mitchell "Mitch" Harmon of Tupelo, MS, Teresa Gail Rose (Damon) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and James "Jimbo" Parten Jr. of Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Jason Scott (Laurie) of Meridian, MS, Matthew Rose (Amber) of Gadsden, AL, Cody McMurry of Tupelo, MS, Katie McMurry of Tupelo, MS, Alex Parten of Meridian, MS, and Kyle Jay Parten of Collinsville, MS; great grandchildren, Tyler Rose, Shelby Rose, Ashley Garrett, Joseph Garrett, Caleb McMurry, Greyson McMurry, and Caden Gibbs; and brother Louis Edward Hankins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Albert and Ruby Bee Kyles Hankins; husband James Parten Sr.; Daughter Ruby Carol Harmon Scott; and brother David Hankins.
Pallbearers will include her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will include Jack Bell, Richie Nowlan, Frankie Polizzi, Joey Hollern, and Harold A. Love.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 6th at James F. Webb Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and an hour prior to service on Wednesday.
