Birdie Mae Dement Rogers
Services for Birdie Mae Dement Rogers will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am at Webb Chapel with Rev. Tom Sorrell of Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Birdie Mae Dement Rogers died Friday, July 24, 2015 at the age of 100. She was born January 13, 1915 in Meridian. Ms. Rogers was a lifetime member of East End Methodist Church where she was active as a member of the choir, a Sunday School teacher and leader of the MYF. She graduated from East MS Community College and started working at Dement Printing Company when she was 19 years of age. There she remained until retiring in her late 60's. Ms. Rogers was an avid genealogist and contributed to many Dement and White families. She will be terribly missed.
She is survived by her son, Col (R) Lewis F. Rogers (Mary) of Ridgeland; daughter, Rebecca Kubler (Roger) of Madison; brother, James W. Dement of Jackson; four grandchildren, Ted Rogers of Creston, Iowa, Major Ronald Rogers (Mary) of Brandon, Kellie Rogers of Gainesville, GA, and Dr. Sean Rogers (Michelle) of Fairfax Station, VA; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion DeWitt Rogers; her parents, Frank Eugene Dement and Rebecca White Dement; her brothers, Rev. Frank Dement and Rev. William Robert Dement.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
