Except for three years in the European Theater of World War II, Carl lived out his life of 97 years in the four county junction of Newton, Neshoba, Lauderdale, and Kemper . He was a bi-vocational pastor of sixty years with his primary pastorate at Prospect Congregational Methodist Church near Collinsville, MS. He married Ellen Alawine in 1950, and they were inseparable till her death. Carl was an accomplished floor covering expert. He was employed at Sears in Meridian for twelve years and was in business for himself for another 34 years. Carl was a soldier in the 191st Division of American Forces in Europe from 1942-1945. Sheet metal was his specialty putting together American planes for the Normandy invasion and later for salvaging planes shot down during sorties into France, Belgium, and Germany. He is survived by his brother, B.F. Stephens and his wife Lucy; one niece and three nephews.
His memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday at 10: 00 A.M. at Prospect Church. Visitation will be at the church at 9:00 A.M. Friends may sign the online register at www.webbstephens.com.
