A graveside service for Carol Mosley Bateman will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Webb and Stephens Funeral Home-Downtown.
Mrs. Bateman, 80, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at her residence.
Carol was a hard worker who owned and operated Carol’s Quick Stop of Marion for over 20 years. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 79, Ladies Club of the Phi Delta Kappa, and Women of the Moose Lodge 1628. She loved to cook and spoiled her family with her meals, cooking for the whole family on Sundays. She also loved everyone, never met a stranger, and had a special love for animals. She will be remembered most for being a devoted wife and loving mother and granny.
She is survived by her children, Norman Bateman (Sherry), Lisa Bateman Eaves, Harold “Duke” Bateman (Andie), and Cliff Bateman (Sara); grandchildren, Jimbo Bateman (April), Mandy Bateman, Andrew Bateman (April), Bryan Smith (Brooke), Heather Falgout (Chris), Sandra Carol Chancelor (Adam), Shane Briggs Bateman (Amber), D.J. Bateman, Kenzie Bateman, Stephanie Moffite, and Ashley Bateman (Michael); great grandchildren, Zach, Reece, Hunter, Neil, Seth, Sadie “Sassy”, Sophie, Hallie, Hayden, Kadence, Hunter, Bentley, Kenny, Aiden, Fallon, and Carter; brothers, Roy Smith (Susan), Howard Mosley (Sue), and Chuck Mosley (Gail); and beloved dog, Max.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Brother” Bateman; and her parents, Charlie and Lillian Mosley.
Pallbearers will include Bryan Smith, Andrew Bateman, Jimbo Bateman, D.J. Bateman, Seth Smith, and Mike Shelby. Gunnery Sergeant Shane Briggs Bateman will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Lauderdale County Animal Control Shelter of Marion in Mrs. Carol’s memory.
