Catherine Brown

Mrs. Catherine D. Brown 9612 of 1336 43rd Ave. Meridian, MS, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, Mrs. Brown was born June 18, 1913. Mrs Brown was a professional seamstress.

She is survied by sister Marion E. Deebs, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husand, Edwin D. Brown a retired switchman for Southern Railroad.

Mrs. Catherine was a volunteer associate of the American Red Cross, and was awarded appreciation for dedicated service by the Key Chapter of Meridian. She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic church for over 70 years. She was an active volunteer for state games of MS and participant in swimming events winning 7 first place gold medals. Mrs. Brown was an ardent supporter and advocate for MCC water aerobics and swimming. She was a volunteer for Senior Citizens RSVP program. She was a member of Meridian Sr. Citizens clogging group performing at various local and surrounding area events. She also was a member of Loves Kitchen.

In Lie of flowers donations to her favorite charities: St. Jude Children Research Hospital, American Cancer Society or St. Patricks High School building fund.

Pallbearers are David A. Deeb, and son Adam Honary, Dennis L. Sherven, Franklin C. Shervan, David Purvis, John Reynolds, Grady Downey, and Bobby Brown.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2010 from 46:00 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home. Services will be on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Father Frank Cosgrove officiating.
