Funeral services for Mr. Charles Balchunas will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Graveside at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Friday from 10 - 11 at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Balchunas, 91, of Meridian, passed away on Aug. 18, 2015 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. He was born in New York City in 1924 and joined the Navy in 1941. He served during WWII, Korea, and the Vietnam eras. Charles and his family moved to Meridian, MS in 1966 where he was stationed at NAS Meridian. Charles retired from the Navy in 1972 after serving 30 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Charles loved sports, especially coaching his granddaughter's softball team! He enjoyed spending time outdoors and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all of us.

He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Sandra and Allen Byrd; Granddaughter and her husband, April and Jimmy Britain; and a great Grandson, Connor Moorehead.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles R. Balchunas; and his wife of 67 years, Amelia Balchunas.
