David Shapiro

David Samuel Shapiro, age 66, of Meridian, passed away at Anderson's Hospital on Jan. 3, 2018.

David was the dearly beloved son of the late Helen and Al Shapiro of Meridian. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi where he majored in English literature and had worked as a newspaper reporter in Mississippi. David was a member of Temple Beth Israel in Meridian and was also a member of the national organization MENSA.

Surviving David are his sister Cathy (George) Shockey, of New York City, a niece, Lauren (Ross) Shockey, a grandnephew, Miles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a Memorial made in his memory to the Meridian Public Library, 2517 7th Street, Meridian, MS 39301.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ohel Jacob Cemetery, 5th Avenue and 18th Street, Meridan, with Rabbi Debra Kassoff officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
