Dean Moore

Dean Conner Moore was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother during her 89 years of life. She passed away peacefully among family singing her favorite church hymns on December 15, 2021.

Dean was the fourth child born to Mary Smith Conner and William Conner in Meridian, Mississippi, where she grew up and graduated from Meridian High school. Dean was the youngest of four loving sisters, Bertha Moore, Diana Davison, Frances Stuart, whom she survived. She and her late husband, George Sr., continued their life in Meridian where they raised their children, George Jr. and Vickie. She adored her large family which also includes seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. For nearly four decades she was a bookkeeper at Brookshires, General Box and the Credit Bureau in Meridian before retiring to travel with her closest friends and sisters.

Many will remember Dean for her playful nature, her love for fishing on the lake at Dalewood and playing Mexican train dominoes, solitaire, Skip Bo and gin rummy with her family and dearest friends, sometimes, until the wee hours of morning. She always carried herself elegantly, yet had a feisty and competitive spirit for winning. She will be remembered for never forgetting her grand-children’s birthdays and celebrations. She always made them feel special with a gift and heart-felt card ending in “Love, Grandmother Moore”. Dean was full of life and loved the Lord Jesus Christ immensely. She spent decades worshiping in her church choir and ended each and every day with a Bible devotion and prayers to the Lord.

Dean was married for 39 years to her husband, predeceased, George Moore Sr.

She is survived by her children, George Moore Jr. and his wife, Ethel Jo Graham Moore of Meridian, MS., and Vickie Moore Smith, and her husband, Robert Smith of Dothan, AL. She is survived by her seven grandchildren and their spouses; Robin and Shane Businelle of Meridian, MS, Jennifer and Scott Brantley of Meridian, MS, Eric and Brooke Moore of Pensacola, FL, Amanda and Benjamin Fierstein of Basalt, CO, Ashley and Bradley McLean of Dothan, AL, Paul and Natalie Smith of Port Orange, FL, and Alyse Smith of Miami, FL. She is survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, Hunter and Trey, Ashlyn, Rayleigh, Aubrie, and Grayson, August and Bryce, Kailynn, Audri, Austin and Payson, and Langston and Callahan.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Lauderdale, Mississippi at 3:00pm.
