Funeral services for Debbie Meeks will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Scooba Baptist Church, with Bro. Donald Martin officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home in DeKalb. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Scooba immediately following the service.

Mrs. Meeks, 64, of Scooba, passed away January 22 at Rush Hospital.

Debbie and her family moved to Scooba when she was a small child. She graduated from DeKalb High School and went to cosmetology school. Debbie opened Smith BP in Scooba but sold the business to devote her life to helping others. She held a Bachelor's in Social Work from Mississippi State University and a Master's in Marriage and Family Counseling from University of West Alabama in Livingston. Debbie went to work at Weems as a drug and alcohol counselor and retired in September of 2018. Debbie will be remembered as a generous, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Debbie is survived by her son, Michael Smith and his wife, Bridget; grandchildren, Jack, Chase, Mathan and Hunter; sisters, Sarah Smith Oliver, Sandra Smith Hodge (James), Polly Smith Ivy (Steve) and brothers, Michael Murphy Smith (Sandra) and Joseph M. Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Meeks; parents, CW and Adele Smith; siblings, Charles W. Smith Jr, Benny Ralph Smith and Patricia Smith Roberts.
