Dewey Sadka Sr. was born on December 18, 1915 to Geroge Dormit Sadka and Mary Assaf Sadka in Meridian MS.

He was the youngest of his parents five children, George, Durham, Joe, and Anne (Queenie), all deceased. His daughter Sharon Louise Sadka is deceased.

Despite living through the Great Depression, Dewey had fond memories of growing up in Meridian. In 1931, when he was still a teenager, his father died. A year later his family grocery store closed. Shortly afterwards, his sister opened a sandwich shop in downtown Meridian. Dewey helped her until he finished high school. He and his brothers were all active Boy Scouts, earning Eagle Scout badges.

During World War II, Dewey served as a naval pilot. In 1940, dressed in his white naval uniform he was introduced to his future wife Louise Moses by his sister "Queenie" in her Vicksburg Mississippi restaurant. After they were married on May 10, 1945, he became a Southern Airways pilot and an Air Force Flight Instructor.

Dewey and Louise had a long and happy marriage. They had four children, Mary Ann, Dewey Jr., Sharon and David. Together Dewey and Louise ran Sadka Realty Company. They were a great team, he often said, " I couldn't have done it without her." When she died in 2003 after 58 years of marriage, Dewey said, " It was hard. I went through a tough time." Both he and the business suffered.

Dewey's family nickname was "Sunshine." It was a perfect fit. His giving, unlimited concerns and support made each day brighter.
