Graveside services for Mr. Don “Donnie” Stokes Jr. will be held Tuesday at 11:15am at Pinecrest Cemetery in DeKalb. Rev. James Ruffin will be officiating. Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Stokes, 38, of Meridian, passed away at his residence.
He was known and will be remembered as a brilliant and talented guitarist in the Meridian and local music scene. Mr. Stokes was an instructor of the guitar and will be remembered for his loving nature, big heart and wit. He dearly loved his family, especially his cousins and nephew. He was so excited when he became an uncle. Music, friends and Ole Miss were his passions.
Mr. Stokes is survived by his parents Don and Sue Stokes; sister Lacy Stokes McGahen (Rob); nephew Parker McGahen along with fiancé Tami Keeter. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Ed and Cindy Staten and Dale and Mary Stokes and grandmother Sara Stokes.
Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his grandfather Parker Stokes; grandparents Charles and Mildred Staten and uncle Eddie Stokes.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10am to 11am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to your favorite charity.
