Dorothy Rainwater

Dorothy Mae Rainwater, 92, former resident of Meridian, Ms. passed away at Bailey Manor in Fayetteville, Tn. on January 17, 2020. Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2020, at 11:00 am, at Stephens Funeral Home with a visitation from 10:30 until service time. Burial will follow at New Hope UMC cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.

The daughter of the late Charles Dewey Graham and Ellen Jane Leggett, she was born June 20, 1927 in Shubuta, Clarke County, Ms. Dorothy married Velpo Rainwater on October 8, 1950 in Wayne County, Ms. They settled in Meridian where they had one son, Mark Timothy Rainwater and daughter-in-law Deanna who reside in Hazel Green, Alabama. Dorothy loved her church, she was involved in the United Methodist Group which included working in positions ranging from local, district, national and international levels. Dorothy also worked as a community volunteer, she was on the board of Mental Health Association, the Pink Ladies of Rush Hospital and the Ben Arthur Davis Garden Club. Dorothy attended Meridian Community College where she graduated with highest honors, while attending MCC she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Dorothy's family and friends will miss her dearly.
