Dot Yochim of Meridian passed away peacefully in her home of 7 decades on Friday, January 3, 2020 one day after her 95th Birthday

Mrs. Yochim was born in Kewanee, and moved to Meridian where she graduated high school. A gifted singer, she declined a music scholarship and chose to train as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone. Dot met A.R. YOCHIM, while she was working at Commercial Credit and they were married for 44 years. Together they raised 3 children and established a successful propane gas business. Dot was an active member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church, and sang soprano in the choir for decades. She was a founding member of Anderson Hospital Sunshine Volunteers and was honored for her many years of service. Following the death of her first husband, she married David Gleason, a fellow choir member and was blessed with another 17 years of loving companionship. Dot had a fondness for playing bridge, postwar swing music, oriental collectibles, a well maintained landscape of dogwoods, flowering shrubs and perennials, and a meticulously clean home!

Dot is survived by her children Debbie Yochim Moore, (Gayle Moore) and Al Yochim (Gayle Hamilton) of Meridian and Chris Yochim (Daryl Glazer) of Parkesburg, Pennsylvania; Her loving cousin Joyce Nicholson, Newton, and cousins Ben and Tilly Mattox family, De Kalb. Most especially, her lifelong friend Mrs. GM (Sis) Clark of Lauderdale.

Dot was preceded in death by her husbands, A.R. Yochim & David Gleason, parents, Jessie and Luther Lowe.

The family wishes to acknowledge the long time support of Annie Stewart and her team of loving caregivers who made it possible for Dot to fulfill her final wish and remain in her cherished home. Lastly, our gratitude to Deacon Tom Zettler who faithfully ministered to mother with weekly visitations to provide spiritual comfort.

The family suggests memorials be made as donations to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
