Services for Effie Jeane Cooksey Jones will be held Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home with the Revs. Chris Cooksey and Dale Moore officiating. Burial will be in Suqualena Cemetery. Mrs. Jones, 88, of Suqualena, passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 18, 2016, at Aldersgate Retirement Community.

Born in Canton, Mississippi on August 18, 1928 she was the daughter of Robert Loyd Cooksey and Elgie Naomi French Cooksey. She retired from Rea, Shaw, Giffin, and Stewart where she was the long time receptionist. In retirement she loved working in her yard, growing flowers, sewing, and quilting. She was a member of Suqualena United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist and sang in the choir, a founding member of the Magnolia Quilters Club and a member of the Suqualena Community Development Club. The thing she loved most was spending time with her family and Sunday afternoons when the family gathered at her house for mealtime. She was looking forward to the arrival of her newest great-grandchild, Elizabeth Ann "Ellie" Adkins.

Survivors include a son, Gary Blanks Jones (Carolyn) and a daughter, Virginia Ann "Ginny" Adkins (Mark), of Meridian; grandchildren, Amanda Jones Rickles, Holly Virginia Adkins Paczak (Bradley), Matthew Ryan Adkins (Erin); step-granddaughters, Jessica Hawkins (Adam) and Amber Johnson (Chancey Stewart); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cateland and Levi Rickles, Helena Paczak and John Claiborne Adkins; step-great grandchildren, Colby, Elizabeth and Colton Stewart. She is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Cooksey Brown, sister-in-law Norma Brawner Cooksey and Dorothy Jones Midgett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Blanks Ernest Jones; infant son, Gregory Alan Jones; parents, Loyd and Elgie Cooksey; and brother, Hubert Cooksey.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Adkins, Bradley Paczak, Eddie Gray, Tomas Jones, Wayne Cooksey, Doug Jones, and Michael Ray Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Levi Rickles.

Memorials may be made to Suqualena United Methodist Church or Aldersgate Retirement Community. An online guestbook may be signed at www.jamesfwebb.com.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home.
