Laine was born on April 19, 1947 to the late Harry and Frances Weise in Philadelphia, Pa.
Laine was a faithful and devoted Catholic who expressed her love of God by the love, compassion and kindness she always showed others. She never met a stranger.
Laine attended St. Hubert’s High School (Philadelphia, Pa) and worked as office manager for Mississippi Industries for the Blind for 33 years where she retired. After retirement she was able to enjoy all her favorite hobbies such as baking, cooking, collecting cookbooks and spending more time involved in the church community. She was truly a walking blessing for so many. Laine was a faithful prayer warrior who spent many hours always thinking and praying for others.
On December 13, 1969 she married the love of her life -Will Melton. He swept her off her feet and moved her to Mississippi. She is survived by one daughter – Sherri Melton. She is also survived by 2 precious granddaughters: Peighton Butler and Paige Butler who lovingly called her MiMi.
Laine leaves behind two sisters; Frances Weise and Donna Dougherty, along with one brother Robert Weise (Anna Weise).
She was preceded in death by her husband – Will Melton, nephews Richard Weise, Steven Guenot, and Alan Creel, and one brother Richard Weise (Rosemarie Weise).
Laine departed this life October 5, 2023 at home where she went to live in the arms of God and all his Love, Grace and Mercy. To say Laine will be missed by many is to say you knew and loved her.
