Mr. Elvin Lamar Bailey

Services for Mr. Elvin Lamar Bailey will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Meridian with Bro. Jim Wall officiating. Interment will be in Causeyville Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bailey passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. Lamar was born on December 3, 1923 in Meridian, Mississippi where he lived for eightyseven years. He retired from the James River Paper Company in 1988 and then worked the remainder of his years as a tree farmer. Lamar was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed, among other things, hunting and calling turkeys. He also loved USM athletics and playing a friendly game of dominos with friends and family. However, Lamars greatest passions were spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, as well as serving at Central United Methodist Church in many capacities, including President of his Sunday School class. Lamar had a contageous smile and playful sense of humor that was a blessing to all.

He is survived by his sisters, Lucy Carter, Norma Jean Williams, and Ethel Thorn, his two sons, Norman Elvin Becky and Phillip Gray Theresa, his grandsons, Norman Elvin Benje, Jr. Mimi, Bryan Lamar Claire, and Brett Williamson, his granddaughter, Haley Rena Su, his greatgrandson, Jacob Elvin, and his greatgranddaughters, Haynes Marie, Evelyn Smith, Margaret Ousley, Aubrey Davidson, and Sally Catherine, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Webb Funeral Home from 3 5 p.m.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Ollie Weston and Sara Martin Bailey, his brothers, Martin and Riddell Bailey, his sisters, Ruby Herrod and Lois Long, and his wife of fiftyone years, Evelyn Elizabeth.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central United Methodist Church.
