Emmett Rivers

May 13, 1963 — November 11, 2017

Graveside services for Mr. Emmett Lee Rivers II will be held Wednesday, November 15th at 2pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Rev. Dennis Robinson will be officiating the service. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rivers, 54, of Meridian, passed away Saturday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired truck driver for Roadway and John E. Smith Sand and Gravel, whose friends will recall him by his CB handle of "Bitterweed". Mr. Rivers favorite hobby was working on small engines and pickup trucks. He will always be remembered as a simple man, great husband, dad and papa. He loved spending time with his family, but his grandchildren were truly his heart. His family said, "he was not perfect, but he was perfect for us."

He is survived by his loving wife Sheila; children Robby Rivers (Melanie), Caleb Rivers (Savannah), Jacob Clearman, Caleb Clearman, Mondell Watson (Ericka) and Hannah Watson Radcliffe (C.J.); grandchildren Ethan Rivers, Erin Rivers, Slade Thompson, Riley Howse, Anniston Howse, Isabella Watson, Ryleigh Watson, Emma Radcliffe along with his expected grandchildren Lyle Rivers, Asa Watson and Baby Radcliffe.

Mr. Rivers is also survived by his brother Sam Rivers (Vera); sisters Lisa Fredrickson (Steve), Jennifer Holliday and Jessica Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his father Emmett Lee Rivers; mother Patsy Jo Savell Guthrie; grandchild Grayson Beau Rivers and sister Scharlene Rivers Horne.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm and one hour prior to service on Wednesday.
