Ms. Esther Duncan Strickland

Funeral Services for Ms. Esther Duncan Strickland will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Frank Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery in Lost Gap.

Ms. Strickland, age 69, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Anderson Hospital. She was a devote member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was the best mother and grandmother anyone could have and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her sons: Irby R. Strickland of Meridian; Teddy Duncan Strickland and wife, Deborah of Meridian; daughter, Tammy Renee Strickland of Meridian; six grandchildren: Daniel Pittman, Angela Strickland Barksdale, Desarae Strickland, Matthew Strickland, Jacob Strickland and Lacy Strickland ; one great grandchild, Gauge Duncan Hill; three sisters: Margaret Thomas, Mary Atchison and Ellaweeze Bradford. A special sister-in-law, Virginia Duncan and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, W.W. Mary Elizabeth Roberts Duncan, four brothers: Glenn Waller, Billy Duncan, G.T. Duncan and Irby Duncan.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Strickland, Jacob Strickland, Tim Neal, Prentiss Hicks, Robbie Fisher, Thomas Burton and Jamie Bradford.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:45 at the church.
