Services for Ms. Evelyn Catherine Smith Massey will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home-Forest Lawn Chapel with Bro. Matt Pittman officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home-Forest Lawn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Massey passed away on March 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in New Orleans, LA and had lived in Meridian since 1959. She was a member of Chunky Baptist Church and a former member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. She was a 1964 graduate of Meridian High School and graduated from Meridian Community College of Nursing. She was a pharmacy technician at Rush Hospital before becoming a registered nurse. She worked at Rush Hospital for 15 years as an registered nurse before becoming a travel nurse.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela "Angie" Foley (Brad); Sons, Brian Massey (Jennifer) and Chris Massey (Ashley); Grandchildren, Erin, Candace, Nathan, Abby, Mandy, Naomi, Matthew, Gabby, Rebecca, Millie, Drew, and Lillie Foley; Leslee Kate, Cage, Banks, Teague, Park, Payne, and Lucy Massey; and Addison and Anslee Cate Massey; Sisters, Mary Harrison and Hazel Brumfield (Jim); and a Brother, Haskel Smith (Robin). She is also survived by nieces and nephews; Jim Harrison (Summer), Dan Moody (Amy), Joshua Smith, Shon Smith, Misty Dawn Ramey, Jesse Rigdon, Colby Fason, and Gray Harrison, Baleigh Moody, and very special friends, Donna West Bills, Betty Jo Oliver, Sue Fleming, Deborah, and Datha Ray; The father of her children, Leo Massey; Mavis Massey, Tommy and Kay Duncan, and Gail and Chuck Moseley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Connie Rubin Smith and Mother, Ethel Vegh Smith; Grandparents, Albert T. and Madie Smith of Derby, MS and Steve and Mary Vegh of New Orleans, LA.
Pallbearers will be Haskel Smith, Jim Harrison, Dan Moody, Ken Duncan, Ryan Duncan, and Randy Mosley.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Son Room at Chuncky Baptist Church.
