Services for Everett Lee Townsend Sr. will be held Thursday, December 5th, 2:00 p.m., at Collinsville Methodist Church with Bro. Curt Pace officiating and Bro. Ron Kitchens assisting. Burial will follow at Collinsville Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Townsend, 95, of Collinsville, passed away Sunday evening at the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko.
Everette served in the United States Army during World War II where he received a purple heart, an oak leaf cluster, and 5 major battle stars. After his time in the military, he went on to work as a transport driver for Fruge Oil Company, a career that he loved dearly. He will be remembered most for being a devoted husband and loving father.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jane Townsend; and son, Everett “Lee” Townsend Jr.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Flavie Townsend; daughter, Belinda Townsend Walker; brothers, Eliott Townsend, Cecil Townsend, and Prentis Townsend; and sisters, Sarah Alice Brown and Katherine Poole.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the church.
