Frank James Gunter

A graveside service for Frank James Gunter will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Brumfield officiating. Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes are honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Gunter, 74, of Meridian, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at Arabella Health & Wellness in Butler, AL.

Frank served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He obtained several decorations during his service including the National Defense Service Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Bronze Star Medal, as well as Marksman and Overseas Services Bars. He was a longtime, faithful member of Rolling Creek Baptist Church, where he loved his church family. He was also a fan of Alabama and Pittsburgh Steelers football. He will be remembered most for being a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine Porter Gunter; daughters, Susie McCraw (Mitchell) and Kristy Davis (Paul); grandchildren, Michael McCraw and Samantha Davis; sister, Linda Lavinghouse; brother, Roy Gunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin and Geneva Townley Gunter.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, September 18, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-Downtown.
