Billy Frank Porter Sr, 92, beloved Father, was called to his eternal resting place on May 6, 2020. He entered this world on October 12, 1927 in Suqualena, MS, born to Verner and Mamie Porter. Frank served in the Army (Korean War) from 1950-1952 where he received the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with 2 BZ Campaign Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Dist Unit Citation, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), UN SVC Medal. He retired from the City of Meridian Public Works Department. Frank was a long time member of Midway Baptist Church. He was an avid Fox hunter and enjoyed training and hunting with his dogs.
He is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Lida Jean Reynolds Porter, daughter Pat Burnside (Danny); son Billy Frank Porter Jr, six grandchildren Jason Burnside (Daphne), Adam Burnside (Allison), Kyle Porter, Christina Porter, Shawn Smith (Keri), Clint Smith (Brittany) and Nine great grandchildren, Joe, Jacob (Brittany), Curry, Stephen Davis, Brooklyn Blakeney, Sam, Maggie, Jessie and Sadie Smith; Six Great Great Grandchildren, Kadence, Kayden, Oakleigh, Cade, Macie, and Samuel Davis; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Reynolds Porter; Parents, Verner and Mamie Porter; and several brothers and sisters.
A private memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 am at Magnolia Cemetery with Pastor Michael Bird of Midway Baptist Church.
