Services for Mr. Fred H. Mathis Sr. will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at Webb funeral home Chapel, 11:30 a.m., with Bro. Ed Shoemaker officiating. Visitation will be from 10 - 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Archusa Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Quitman.
Mr. Mathis, 94, of Quitman, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman. He was a retired logger and cattleman. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and after his retirement he started beekeeping and enjoyed doing that until he had to move to Lakeside.
He was survived by Sons, Fred H. Mathis Jr., Jerrold Wayne Mathis and his wife Delia, and Ronnie Dale Mathis and his wife Cathy; Daughters, Mary Dorothy Parker and her husband Larry and Connie Gale Brister and her husband Tim. He was blessed with many grandchildren; Tracy McAdams Ishee, Jeremy Wayne McAdams, Bobby Jones, Bryan Brister, Ashley Brister, Jonathan Brister, Aaron Brister, Ashley Riordan, and Glenn Riordan; and with Seventeen Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, Ed and Anna Mathis; and his wife, Mary Katherine Mathis.
