Gayle Anne Hawkins

Funeral services for Gayle Anne “Doodle” Hawkins will be held Monday at 5pm at Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian. Rev. Chuck Overby will be officiating.

Mrs. Hawkins,61, of Meridian, passed away at her residence on Friday.

She had previously been employed as a cardiology tech, working for several years at Matty Hersee Hospital and Riley Hospital.

Mrs. Hawkins loved to sing and enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show reruns.  Though she enjoyed these things, her world was the love she had for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Samantha Hawkins Owens; grandchildren Seth McMurray, Alyssa Owens and Autumn Owens; brothers Jerry Holdiness and wife Sacky, Mark Holdiness and wife Amanda and George Holdiness and wife Christy. Mrs. Hawkins is also survived by her sister Wanda J. Smith along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mack and Freda Holdiness; husband Randy Hawkins; daughter Melissa Hawkins McMurray; brother John Douglas Holdiness; sister Mary Jane Holdiness McDonald.  She was also preceded in death by her life partner Jim Boylen.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4pm to 5pm at the funeral home.
