George "Mike" Rivers

A graveside service for George Michael Rivers, known “Mike” or “Riverdawg”, will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery with Bro. Tom Zettler officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service at the cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rivers, 51, of Meridian, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Andersons Regional Medical Center.

If you knew Mike, you’d know that he was one of kind. He walked down his own path and was his own man. Mike never met a stranger and was adored by children. He loved music and when he played it, the neighbors got to listen too. He worked alongside his lifetime best friend, Billy Lyons, taking care of the tattoo shop. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Jayden Rivers; siblings, Dusty Rivers (Betty), Beth Lewis (Mark), Cindy Hatcher (Larry), and Amy Reynolds (Greg); uncle, David O. Rivers; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews; and honorary brothers, Eddie and Freddie Collins and Jimmy Mitchell Sr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert “Sarge” and Martha Virginia Rivers; and grandparents, Wesley and Addie Rivers and Bill and Elizabeth Combs.

Honorary pallbearers include Mark Lewis, Dusty Rivers, Larry Hatcher, Greg Reynolds, Steve Brogan, Billy Lyons, Chris Crampton, Todd Rivers, and Brandon Franklin.
