GLORIS A. COOPER , age 89, a resident of Gulf Shores, Al, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Baldwin County Hospital in Foley, Alabama.
She was born April 12, 1930 to her mother Bertha and Thelbert Little of Enterprise, Mississippi.
She was a 1948 graduate of Enterprise High School, 4 year varsity letterman, cheerleader and served on the yearbook staff. She was well liked by friends and faculty members and known for her winning personality, "pretty hair and flashing blue eyes".
She married Bennie "The Bear" Cooper on January 7, 1956. They remained in love for almost 50 years until his passing June 14, 2005.
She worked with the public at South Central Bell and displayed great communication skills. Upon retirement, she continued her work with the community, as an elected Board Member for the Lauderdale County School System.
Gloris lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, traveling with family and friends, making homemade ice cream, gardening, chatting… while sharing coffee and reading. She had the ability to connect with people in a compassionate and positive way.
She is survived by her 6 children, Gail Massey, Beryl Tobin, Cheryl Cooper Lawson. Therese Lloyd, Todd Cooper and Kim Chancelor along with 16 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
Family, friends and others whose lives Gloris touched are invited to James F. Webb Funeral Home at 2514 7th St. Meridian, MS. 39301, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, April 22, 2019 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course…just chat.
A celebration of Life will be at Webb's, Tuesday, April 23 at 10:00 AM with Interment following at Archusa Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Address: 3272 Highway 145 N. Quitman, MS. 39355
