Gurtis Morgan Davenport Funeral services for Gurtis Sis Morgan Davenport will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Webb Chapel with Revs. Curtis Lucy and Roy Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Davenport, 91, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Rush Hospital. She was a lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist Church; a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of the Busy Fingers Sewing Group. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. A friend to all who knew her. She brought joy and happiness to her family and friends, making everyone around her feel special and loved. She is survived by her husband, J.W. Davenport of Meridian; a daughter, Etta Price and her husband, David, of Florissant, Mo.; two grandsons, David Michael Price and Andrew William Price; sister, Janette Watson of Meridian; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Walter and Sara Hodgin Morgan; and two brothers, Levi Morgan and Johnnie Morgan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2995, Meridian, MS 39301 or your favorite charity.
