Visitation will be held for Mrs. Guynell Hailey Duncan on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm at Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb.
Mrs. Duncan, 86, of Preston, passed away at her residence on Sunday.
Mrs. Duncan held several masters degrees from the University of Mississippi and taught many years in the state of Louisiana until her retirement when she returned to Kemper County and became the manager of the Northwest Kemper Rural Water Association. She also served as president of both the Mississippi Rural Water Association and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Board. During her life she was well respected and was presented many awards in her chosen careers as well as many local and statewide achievements. She was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and enjoy being outdoors. Mrs. Duncan was passionate about her yard, caring for her numerous plants including her roses and azaleas.
She was a member of Pleasant Springs Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her grandchildren Jason Duncan, Jon Duncan and wife Kate, Roger Matthew Duncan, James Michael Duncan; great grandchildren Skylar Duncan, Cage Duncan, Harper Duncan, Braylee Cooper and Layla Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents J.W. and Hessie Hailey; husband Roger E. "Bill" Duncan; son David Albert Duncan; daughter Donna Duncan and one sister.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
