Gwendolyn “Gwen” Douglas Johnson ,67, of DeKalb, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2023. She was born on October 18, 1956, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to the late Gay Mathis and Glen Douglas.
Gwen was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She cherished her family and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Gwen had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She had a deep love for travel and was always eager to explore new and exciting places. Road trips were a favorite past-time for her, and she especially enjoyed spending time at the beach and in the mountains.
Gwen is survived by her daughter, Yalonda Miller and husband Tony; her son, John Johnson and wife Kayla; grandson, Logan Miller; granddaughters, Cailea Johnson, Violet Johnson, and Abby Rose; her sister, Glenda McCray; and her brother, Kenny Douglas and wife Brenda.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gay Mathis.
Gwen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit and zest for life will forever be remembered.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date, to honor Gwen’s life and celebrate the memories she created with her family and friends.
