Funeral services for Mr. Hamil Millsaps Jr. will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 10 am at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Bob Followell will be officiating. Webb & Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Millsaps, 77, of DeKalb passed away at his residence on Thursday. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and retiring from the Mississippi Army National Guard as a helicopter mechanic. Mr. Millsaps was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Sts. John Masonic Lodge and the Hamasa Shriners. He enjoyed being outside, whether he was hunting, fishing, gardening or just enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his daughter Deneise Baker (Tony); stepson Lester Poole; sister Ruby Barker (Herbert); brothers Johnny Millsaps (Jo), Jerry Millsaps (Earline) and Jessie Millsaps (Brenda).
Mr. Millsaps is also survived by his grandchildren Key Ivy, William Reid, Michael Reid, Jon Reid, Cole Poole, Katie Burnside along with numerous great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Hamil and Minnie Lee Millsaps; wife Katherine Ivy Millsaps; daughters Angela Welch; brother Jimmy Millsaps; sister Mary Ann Collins; stepson Jeff Poole; stepdaughter Teresa Ivy and granddaughter Abigal Welch.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7pm to 9pm at the funeral home.
