Graveside services for Mr. Harry Hoyt Russell will be held Tuesday at 10 am in Pinecrest Cemetery in DeKalb, MS. Eulogy will be brought by Mr. Ronald Hegwood with special music by Rev. Chris Gully. Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Russell 86, of DeKalb, passed away Saturday at Baptist Hospital in Carthage. He was a brick mason and general contractor, having built several prominent buildings in DeKalb and the surrounding area. He also designed and built the Veteran’s walkway around the Kemper Co. courthouse and upon others seeing his work, he designed and built other walkways similar throughout Mississippi. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Russell served on several boards and commissions including a term as president of the East MS Economic Development Board.

He is survived by his daughter Ruth Ann McDonald (Larry); grandson Shane McDonald (Daniela); great-grandchildren Santiago Bryce McDonald and Felicity Rain McDonald. Mr. Russell is also survived by his sister Sue Hegwood (Ronald) and special nieces Jeannie Aaberg and Rhonda Nielson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Sylvia.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Robinson, Steven Robinson, Will Mosely, Frankie Russell, Raymond Hudnall and Freddie Gully.
