Services for Helen Moore Sims will be held Saturday at 2:30 pm at Webb Chapel with Rev. Steve Taylor officiating, and assisted by Revs. Monte Starkes and Rodney Ward. Burial will be in Old Marion Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Helen Moore Sims passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 peacefully at her retirement residence, The Estates at Carpenters in Lakeland, FL at age 103.
She was born September 1, 1911, and was preceded in death by her parents, William Wright and Lelia Coker Moore; eight brothers and sisters; and her husband, Jamie L. Sims.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Johnston (Steve) of Lakeland, FL; son, Wade Sims, Sr. (Lynda) of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters, Amy Starkes (Monte) of Alpharetta, GA, Christie Warmoth (Greg) of Orlando, FL, and Ashley Sanfilippo (Richard) of Winter Park, FL; grandsons, Wade Sims, Jr. (Helen) of Meridian, Eric Johnston (Michelle) of Alpharetta, GA, and Jamie Sims (Carolyn) of Atlanta, GA; and twenty great grandchildren.

Helen was a homemaker at the family residence in the Russell community where she lived all her life until moving to The Estates in 2005. She was a lifelong member of Russell Baptist Church who tirelessly served in any calling, especially as Sunday school teacher for many years for young adults. She was a charter member of the Russell Community Development Club. Other activities included Order of the Eastern Star and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. After his retirement, she and Jamie spent many happy years gardening and giving their vegetables to neighbors.

Pallbearers will be Perry Sims, George Fletcher, T.W. Calcote, Raymond Massey, and her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed by Russell Baptist Church, 1488 Hwy. 11 and 80, Meridian, MS 39301 or Old Marion Cemetery Association, c/o Gail Massey, POB 1285, Meridian, MS 39301.
