Services for Henry Preston Hayes will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Webb Chapel with Rev. Jim Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Little Zion Cemetery in Kemper County with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hayes, 81, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at Rush Hospital in Meridian. He was born October 4, 1947, in Newton County. He married Lois Marie Smith on December 4, 1947. He served in the United States Army. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Hayes, of Maryland; granddaughter, Lillian Hansen; great-grandson, Hayden Hansen, both of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Dorothy Thompson and her husband Ken, of South Williamsport, Pa.; brothers, Melvin Hayes and his wife Deanna of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; E.J. Hayes and his wife Lucille, of Meridian; K. Howell Hayes and his wife Nancy, of Meridian; and a sister, Betty McQuaig, of Meridian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Marie Hayes; parents, Patrick Henry and Sallie Thompson Hayes; and a sister, Ann Cullum. The family requests memorials be sent to a charity of your choice.
