Mr. Meador, (H.S.), 87, died at home surrounded by his wife, his children, sons in law and pastor.
He joined Springhill United Methodist Church as a teen and established a lifelong devotion for his loving Savior. He worked tirelessly in every aspect of the church, always willing to serve or work as needed. During his active years, he served as Lay Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School and MYF, President of UMM, and Trustee. H.S. had a profound appreciation for the land and creation as a farmer, gardener, and outdoorsman. He hunted game and fished in earlier life but in later years enjoyed watching, feeding and trying to make pets of the wildlife. He had a dry sense of humor but loved pranks and jokes. He loved westerns, whether reading novels or watching them on TV, or riding his own horses.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War, being a member of the first group drafted from this area. He was a member of Oakland Heights Lodge #577, Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi recently earning his 50 year pin; VFW Post 79, and Meridian Chapter #11 Order of Eastern Star. He retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad after 40 years employment.
H.S. was proud of his family and enjoyed having his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around him.
Mr. Meador is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie Morton Meador; his children, Toni Thompson (Hal), Thyra Phillips (Steve), and Guy Morton Meador and special great granddaughter Alex Meador; grandchildren, Allen Scott Harwell, Angie Meador Wilkinson (Sid), Beth Buckley, Jeremy Meador (Kimberly), Sharon Ann Merchant (Karl), Stephanie Meador Dodson, Ashley Thompson Phillips, and Casey Meador and Grand dog Stumpy; great grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Heather Harwell, Taylor Creekmore, James Harwell, Thomas Creekmore, Caleb Phillips, Katie Dodson, Sam Dodson, Matthew Merchant, Allie Wilkinson, Kinsley Meador, John Henry Wilkinson, and Eli Meador.
