Hilah Skewes

Hilah McLean Skewes, a native of Meridian, died at Anderson Regional Medical Center on November 24, 2020, at age 86.

Mrs Skewes was the retired President of The Meridian Star, Inc. She was a graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa honorary scholastic society. In Meridian, she was a member of The Episcopal Church of The Mediator, the Meridian Junior Auxiliary, and a Member-at-Large of the National Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs Skewes was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Skewes and by her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Kenneth McLean.

She is survived by cousins Lisette L. Verlander; Lester J. Lautenschlaeger Jr; Candace V. Strahan; Lisette V. Sutton; Kenneth L. Verlander; Douglas Malcolm McLean; Frances G. McLean; Ann M. Robertson; Addie L. Louis and other cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday December 3, 2020, at 11:30am at Magnolia Cemetery, with Fr Morris Thompson of The Episcopal Church of The Mediator officiating. There will be no visitation before or reception following the service. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to The Episcopal Church of The Mediator, P.O.
