Hubert "Sarge" Rivers

Services for Hubert "Sarge" Rivers will be held Saturday at 10 am at Webb Chapel with Pastor John Temple and Father Frank Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rivers, 79, of Meridian, died peacefully Tuesday, January 27, 2015 surrounded by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Combs Rivers; children, Dusty Rivers (Betty), Beth Lewis (Mark), Cindy Hatcher (Larry), Mike Rivers, and Amy Reynolds (Greg); his honorary sons, Eddie Collins, Freddie Collins, and Jimmy Mitchell; grandchildren, Todd Rivers (Suzanne), Stacey Tapper (Garrett), Ashley Fontaine (Daniel), Ginny Lewis, Jayden Elizabeth Rivers, Kelsey White, Anniston Reynolds, and Kaden Reynolds; great grandchildren, Dean Perry, Liam, Trace, Taylor, Grayson, Matthew, and Camryn; and his brother, David O. Rivers (Mildred).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and "Addie" Rivers; brother, Bud Rivers; and sisters, Cleo O'Conner, Margie Brown, and Evelyn Powell.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Roberts, Buck Roberts, Ricky Roberts, and members of the MPD Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Everette Moore, Tommy Tucker, Howard Nester, Gunnis Hill, John Nelson, Raymond Grogan, Glenn Miller, and Ray Rodgers.
