Imogene Snowden

February 4, 1925 — January 19, 2019

Funeral services for Imogene Snowden will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home, with Bro. Gene May and Bro. John Grimes officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to service. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Church.

Mrs. Snowden, age 93, passed away on January 19 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Imogene was born on February 4, 1925, in Kemper County to Allen and Claudia Ann Walker. She was a longtime faithful member of Pine Grove Church in Martin. She retired in 1983 from West Lauderdale School, where she worked in the cafeteria. After retiring, Imogene spent her days tending to her garden and reading her bible while watching the hummingbirds feed outside her window or fishing with her husband and sons. Imogene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and her legacy of love will carry on through her beloved family.

Survivors include her sons, Jackie & Patricia Snowden, of New Hebron, MS, and Kenny & Theresa Snowden of Collinsville, MS; granddaughter, Stephanie & John Grimes, of Lucedale, MS, grandson, Devin Snowden, of Collinsville, MS; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Daisy Smith, of Dekalb, MS, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Virgil Snowden; granddaughter, Summer Snowden; parents, Allen and Claudia Ann Walker and stepmom, Lottie Walker; sisters, Louise May, Freddie Wiessner and Leona Johnson, and brothers, J.W. "Sonny" Walker and J.D. Walker.

Pallbearers will be Devin Snowden, Mickey May, John Grimes, Kody Leggett, Gary Sullivan and Milford Smith
