Jacqueline Shumate

Graveside services for Mrs. Jacqueline E. Shumate will be held Friday at 11 am at Meridian Memorial Park. Rev. Jack Kern will be officiating the service. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shumate, 87, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday at Bedford Care of Marion. She was a long time registered nurse serving in several capacities in Meridian. Mrs. Shumate was a longtime employee of Rush Hospital, served as the school nurse for Meridian Public Schools and also taught the CNA curriculum at Meridian Community College. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. Shumate is survived by her children Sharon Shumate, Billy Shumate, David Shumate and wife Silvana; grandchildren Maggan Everette, Colby Shumate and wife Breanna, Tara Shumate, Kelsey Shumate and Victoria Shumate. She is also survived by great-grandchild Olive Everette and brother Lamar Nored.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Carry Muriel Nored; husband Bill Shumate and sister Pat Alvarez.
Visitation will be held from 9am until 10:30 am Friday morning at the funeral home.
