James Archie Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. James H. Archie Jr. will be held Wednesday, January 27th at 1:30 pm. Rev. Aaron Parker will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Archie, 92, of the Meehan Community, passed away Sunday at Specialty Hospital in Meridian. He was retired from Lauderdale County. He played the harmonica, sang bluegrass music, and enjoyed listening to others who sang bluegrass.

He was a longtime member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He loved everyone he met would help anyone that needed his help. He never met a stranger, would talk with anyone.

He literally has given his coat and shoes to someone who was in need.

He is survived by his wife, Lizzie Evans Archie; daughter Barbara Murphy and husband James; stepdaughter Margaret Roberts; stepsons Levi Barnett, Jerry Barnett, Sam Foster, David Foster and Ronnie Foster. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Archie was preceded death by his parents James and Rose Archie; daughters Marie Archie and Rose Archie.

Pallbearers will be David Archie, Shawn Partridge, Zach Barnett, Clifton Boswell, Austin Gray and Larkin Gray.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
