James Randolf Dawkins, affectionately known as Randy, passed away peacefully at his home in Meridian, Mississippi, on Monday, March 31st, with his wife, Patti, by his side. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, teacher, and friend to many.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Dawkins II, his mother, Helen Pierce, and his first wife, Valerie, of over 40 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Dawkins, and their children: Jody Dawkins (wife Elysa), Lynessa Dawkins, and Jason Dawkins (wife Rochelle). He also leaves behind his children by marriage: Abraham (wife Destiny), Anthony (wife Lori), and Jessica (husband Fidel), who held a special place in his heart.
Randy was the proud grandfather of Trey, Donovan, Tylis, David, Gabriel, Erik, Kylie, Kamryn, Kaydence, Dallas, and Lucas. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Orion, Aurora, Holden, Ronin, and baby Blain, who is expected to arrive in September.
A lifelong servant of Christ, Randy dedicated his life to worship ministry and pastoring churches with passion, humility, and a heart full of praise. His calling as a music teacher and deep love for the arts inspired countless others through his work with choirs, musicals, and theatrical productions. Whether leading a hymn or directing a play, Randy brought joy, excellence, and reverence to everything he touched.
He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his infectious laughter, and the way he made everyone feel like family. His life was a melody of worship, love, and service — a song that will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Randy’s life and ministry will be held at NorthPark Church on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to NorthPark Church.
