James Edwards

James Terry Jim Edwards, age 62, of Clarkesville, GA formerly of Meridian, MS, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born in Austell, Georgia on May 27, 1946, he was the son of the late James Jackson and Grace Raley Edwards. He was employed in hospital management with Habersham Medical Center for the past 9 years, with 33 years of dedicated service prior to this at Laurelwood Hospital in Meridian, MS. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Meridian, MS and attended Hazel Creek Baptist Church in Mt Airy, GA. He was an avid fisherman and musician. He was also a devoted father and grandfather.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Joel Rogers of Taylorsville, MS and Casey Ollie Little of Quitman, MS; son and daughter-in-law, Chris Kelley Edwards of Demorest, GA; former wife and dear friend, Diana Harper Edwards of Meridian, MS; brother and sister-in-law, Don Vivian Edwards of Watkinsville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Howard Palmes of Birmingham, AL: sister, Peggy Edwards of Commerce GA; nine grandchildren, Tyler Edwards, Saige Thomas, Jacen Little, Erin Edwards, River Thomas, Brady Edwards, Eli Little, Slade Little and Tristen Rogers; brother-in-law and dear friend Mike Harper, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 6-8 pm on Monday. Graveside services are 2:00 pm Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Freedom Baptist Church cemetery, Harper Road, Meridian, MS 39301. The family is at the residence of son, Chris Edwards, 203 Brentwood Drive, Demorest, GA 30535. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to; Habersham County Little League, P.O. Box 2241 Clarkesville, GA 30523, or Freedom Baptist Church, Charles Harper, 602 Harper Rd, Meridian, MS 30931 or to the charity of ones choice.
