Graveside services for James Thomas Garrett, Jr. will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 12:00pm at Magnolia Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Garrett, 93, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was a graduate of Meridian High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He learned the printing business at Dement Printing Company. He was plant manager for Office Supply Company until his retirement. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughter Linda Helms and her husband, Jim, of Columbus, Ga.; two sons, Doug Garrett and his wife, Mae, of Ridgeland, and David Garrett and his wife, Felicia, of Tupelo; grandchildren Christian Helms of Columbus, Steven Garrett and his wife, Alex, of Collierville, Tenn., Jennifer Richardson and husband, Chad, of Madison, and Drew, Chris, and Jason Garrett of Tupelo; and great-grandchildren Kristen Richardson and Samantha and Katharine Garrett; sister-in-law, Maxine Lang and her husband, Skeeter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavinia Kropp and James Thomas Garrett; his wife, Virginia Rea Jones; his brother Jack Garrett; his grandson Jacob Alexander Garrett. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 West Main Street, Tupelo, Miss., 38801. Visitation will be held today from 10 am. until the service at the funeral home.
