James Lionel Hamrick Jr.

James Lionel Hamrick, Jr. passed away July 18 at the age of 82 due to complications from an earlier cardiac arrest. He was a resident of Meridian all his life with the exception of living with his son for the past two years in New Orleans.

Mr. Hamrick was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church. He served in the Korean War. He was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi where he received a degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration. He was employed by the Meridian Public School System as Director of Vocational Education until his retirement in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Lionel Hamrick, Sr. and Eva Williamson Hamrick of Meridian and his brother Dr. Joseph Thomas Hamrick of New Orleans. He is survived by his wife Joy Campbell Hamrick, a daughter Dr. Jennifer Hamrick Turner of Jackson, a son James Lionel Hamrick III of New Orleans, a son Thomas Clinton Hamrick of Meridian, three grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday July 24 from 1:30 to 2:30 at Webb Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery.
