James Edward Murphy, 73, of Toomsuba, MS, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of his life will be held later.
Mr. Murphy was a Vietnam veteran, having served in The U.S. Army. He was a truck driver, and a millwright who was passionate about working on and building race cars and spending time at the Whynot Raceway. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara Murphy; his two sons Michael Murphy (Emily) and Corey Murphy (Callista) of Huntington Beach, CA; his daughter Brandy Johnson; 6 grandchildren Axel, Rain, Willow, Ryder, and Dixie Murphy, and Johnny Hunt; 1 great grandchild Luca Murphy and one granddaughter on the way; 2 siblings Larry Murphy (Peggy), and Jannie Thrash (Charles); 3 nephews Chad Thrash, Wayne Murphy, Rodney Wing, and 2 nieces Amber (Thrash) Creel and Patti Wing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Toy Murphy.
