Services for Mr. James M. Vance will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, with visitation at 10:00 am, with a service at noon at College Park United Methodist Church, with Reverend Kenneth R. Owen and Dr. Rhett G. Payne, III officiating. Interment will be held in the Decatur Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James M. Vance, 76, went home to be with his Lord May 2, 2012. He spent his life helping educate and guide young people. He was also an inspiration to countless other people in his community, church, and state. His compassion, leadership, and support will be greatly missed. His legacy, however, will continue. His love for the Lord will be a beacon for his family, friends, and colleagues.
As a member of College Park United Methodist Church, he served as Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Administrative Board, delegate to conference, and treasurer.
Coach Vance was known by coaches and officials during his 48 years of officiating. He also conducted workshops for others.
The Son of the late David and Tammy Vance, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Mowdy Vance, his son, Jeff Vance, and his daughter, Tami Cassaro, soninlaw, Brett Cassaro, granddaughter, Micah Rippon, sister Delois Cannady, and his brothers, Doug and Rudolph Vance.
