Services for Mr. James "Jimmy' Whittington will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Church of Mediator, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jimmy passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Anderson's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Jackson, MS on May 10, 1968, the third child of Sam and Darlene Whittington. Jimmy worked in retail for most of his life, most recently at Dillards Department Store, where he displayed a wonderful gift of salesmanship. He also worked in real estate and loved to fix up old houses.
Jimmy lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures; talking with friends, listening to music, golfing, cars and spending time with family. He had a wonderful ability to find the good in people. He loved serving others and helping out in all situations. He was a member of the Church of Way and The Church of the Mediator. Jimmy lived a life of faithfulness and service to his family and friends. Jimmy's life is a testament to his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jimmy endured a devastating illness with quiet grace and acceptance. He never questioned his circumstances.
He is survived by his wife, Shelley Whittington; Step Daughter, Claire McCraw; Parents, Sam and Darlene Whittington; Sister, Jan Freeman (Tre); Brother, Kent Whittington (Tracy); Mother and father in law, Alatha and Duffee Williams; Brother in law, Lang Williams ; Sister in law, Hayley Shirley (Miles); and nieces and nephews, Will, Mary Margaret, Catherine, Bentley, Sarah, Paige and Conner.
He is preceded in death by his Brother, Samuel "Sammy" Whittington; and by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whittington, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. James T. Scroggins.
Jimmy was a good man. We loved him so much and he will be forever in our hearts.
