James Poe Thomas

A memorial service for Mr. James Poe “Big Jamie” Thomas will be held at a later date.

Mr. Thomas, 48, of Meridian passed away Saturday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

He was a former truck driver for Maples Gas Co. Mr. Thomas loved working his cattle and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed music, especially classic rock, country and blues. He had a wonderful talent of singing. Mr. Thomas was very passionate about the things he liked and the things he did not like. His family will remember him as a funny, tenderhearted person who cared very much about his family and friends, going out of his way to help anyone that needed his help. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was a very open and kind person. Family can take comfort in knowing that Mr. Thomas knew Jesus as his Savior.

He is survived by his wife Diann; sister Belinda Bester (Joe); brother Bryan Thomas (Lisa Monique); step-children David, Kristen and Nathan along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents James and Rebecca; grandparents; half- brother Mike.
